II. Application Eligibility

(I)Support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, be willing to serve socialist modernization, have good moral character, and abide by laws and regulations.

(II)Applicants must hold one of the following degrees:

Individuals who have obtained a masters degree and the corresponding degree certificate.

Final-year masters graduates (must obtain the masters degree certificate before enrollment at the latest). Individuals with overseas masters degrees must obtain the Academic Degree Certificate for Overseas Education issued by the China Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) before enrollment (the specific enrollment date shall be subject to the Admission Notice).

(III)Meet the universitys requirements for physical and mental health.

(IV)Applicants applying as an equivalent academic qualification candidate must simultaneously meet the following conditions:

Have obtained a bachelors degree for 6 years or more (calculated from the date of obtaining the bachelors degree to the date of doctoral enrollment);

Have completed masters-level courses relevant to the applied doctoral program (with transcripts issued by the universitys graduate management department);

Have published 2 academic papers (as first or second author/completor) related to the applied doctoral program in domestic or international core journals;

Have won provincial/ministerial or higher-level scientific research awards, and generally hold a professional title of associate senior or above (or equivalent);

Have been verified by the university as having academic qualifications equivalent to masters graduates.

Each doctoral supervisor may admit at most 1 equivalent academic qualification candidate per year.

(V)Academic achievement requirements: Possess a solid professional foundation, strong research capabilities, a keen interest in academic research, and strong innovation awareness, innovation ability, and professional competence. Have special academic expertise and outstanding academic achievements in a certain field (applicants should have obtained at least 1 high-level academic achievement during their masters studies; forms of achievements include but are not limited to journal papers, monographs, patents, software copyrights, new theories, new methods, new products, etc.).

Applicants for full-time non-directed employment Engineering Doctorate programs must, in addition to meeting the above eligibility criteria, have a solid theoretical foundation in engineering technology, strong engineering practice capabilities, and high comprehensive quality.

(VI)Foreign language proficiency requirementsApplicants must meet one of the following foreign language proficiency conditions:

CET-6 score 425;

IELTS score 6.0;

TOEFL score 80;

New GRE score 300;

GMAT score 650;

Passed the WSK (PETS-5) exam;

Have 1 year or more of full-time study experience abroad (where English is the main daily or teaching language), and must provide proof of overseas study experience and transcripts;

Other languages: Only languages published in the universitys annual admission program catalog are allowed. Must provide national language test passing certificates or qualified transcripts.

The validity period for items (1)(8) is from November 1, 2020, to November 1, 2025.

Applicants who do not meet the foreign language proficiency requirements must take the unified foreign language exam organized by the school; only those who pass the exam will be deemed to meet the foreign language proficiency requirements (the exam time shall be subject to the specific notice of the schools graduate admissions).


III. Application Procedure

(I) Online Registration

Before registering online, applicants should carefully read the NWPU "Application-Assessment" System Applicant Operation Manual (see attachment).

Registration period: November 21 12:00 on November 28

Registration batch: 2026 first "Application-Assessment" system admission

Notes:

Applicants must ensure the accuracy of the submitted registration information and pay the registration fee before the registration deadline. The system will close after the deadline, and no modifications to the information will be allowed. Applications will be invalid if the fee is not paid during the registration period; the registration fee is non-refundable once paid.

Applicants should log in to the doctoral registration system after 9:00 on December 3 to check if their application eligibility has been approved. If not approved, applicants must resubmit materials by 12:00 on December 4 according to the reasons for rejection; applications will be invalid if resubmission fails or is overdue.

(II) Submission of Online Registration Materials

NWPU Doctoral Student Application Form, which must be stamped with the official seal of the personnel department of the unit where the applicants file is located.

Two recommendation letters from professors in the applied discipline/professional field; one of them should be from the applicants masters supervisor (associate professors or equivalent professional titles are also acceptable).

Academic degree certification materials:

(1) For applicants who have obtained a masters degree:

Formal education: Bachelors and masters degree certificates, bachelors and masters academic certificates, Ministry of Education Academic Certificate Electronic Registration Form for bachelors and masters degrees;

Non-formal education: Bachelors and masters degree certificates, bachelors academic certificate, Ministry of Education Academic Certificate Electronic Registration Form (bachelors), China Higher Education Degree Online Verification Report or Degree Certification Report (masters);

Overseas degree holders: Bachelors and masters graduation certificates, Academic Degree Certificate for Overseas Education (with QR code) issued by CSCSE.

(2) For final-year masters graduates: Bachelors degree and academic certificates, Ministry of Education Academic Certificate Electronic Registration Form (bachelors), and Ministry of Education Student Status Online Verification Report (masters). Overseas final-year graduates must submit proof of expected graduation before enrollment in the admission year.

(3) For equivalent academic qualification applicants: Bachelors degree and academic certificates, Ministry of Education Academic Certificate Electronic Registration Form (bachelors).

For the Ministry of Education Academic Certificate Electronic Registration Form and Ministry of Education Student Status Online Verification Report, select the longest validity period when querying on the Xuexin Wang (China Higher Education Student Information Network). Applicants who graduated before 2002 must submit the China Higher Education Academic Certification Report.

Transcripts of undergraduate and masters studies (must be stamped with the official seal of the applicants college or the schools academic records management department).

Valid ID card (both front and back sides); final-year masters graduates must provide a student ID card.

Chinese and English abstracts of the masters thesis (final-year students provide a masters thesis introduction and research progress).

Foreign language proficiency certificates (e.g., CET-6, TOEFL, IELTS certificates or transcripts).

(III) Eligibility Review

University preliminary review: After submitting online registration information and paying the fee, applicantseligibility will be reviewed by the universitys Graduate Admissions Office. If not approved, applicants must resubmit materials according to the reasons for rejection; applications will be invalid if resubmission fails or is overdue.

Mailing of application materials:Eligible applicants must mail the following materials to the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering by December 5 (postmark date). Paper materials should be sorted in the following order (no binding required). Applicants must ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the information and materials submitted; those who provide false information or materials will have their application 资格 canceled at any time. All application materials will be retained by the school for reference; applicants should keep backup copies.(1) Copies of all online registration materials; the NWPU Doctoral Student Application Form, two recommendation letters, and undergraduate/masters transcripts must be original copies.(2) Published (accepted) academic papers, university-level or higher award certificates, or other materials proving research capabilities. For published (accepted) papers: Copies of published papers (including journal cover, table of contents, and full text); copies of accepted but unpublished papers and acceptance letters (signed by the corresponding author). If the paper is indexed by SCI and/or EI, provide a copy of the retrieval certificate; if the paper is online-published but not indexed, provide a copy of the source journals SCI/EI certification.(3) Research proposal (no less than 2,000 words), including necessary references.

Foreign language proficiency assessment:Applicants who do not meet the foreign language proficiency requirements must take the unified foreign language exam organized by the school (written test).Exam location: NWPU Changan CampusExam subject: EnglishThe school will notify applicants by email in advance; the specific time and location shall be subject to the notice.

School review:The school will form a material review expert group to review the application materials of applicants who have passed the online eligibility review and meet the foreign language proficiency requirements (either exempted or having passed the schools unified exam). The review will focus on the applicants academic performance, foreign language proficiency, research experience, published papers, patents, competition awards, and research plans. Based on the admission quota, candidates will be selected for the comprehensive assessment at a certain competitive ratio.


IV. Comprehensive Assessment

The school will form a comprehensive assessment expert group consisting of no fewer than 7 doctoral supervisors. The comprehensive assessment mainly includes ideological and political quality and moral character, foreign language proficiency, and professional comprehensive ability assessment. The main assessment contents are as follows:

(I) Ideological and Political Quality and Moral Character Assessment

Comprehensively assess the applicants ideological and political quality and moral character, including ideological awareness, political attitude, and legal literacy, as well as the mastery of political theory and the ability to analyze practical problems using theoretical knowledge.

The ideological and political assessment will use a question bank established by the comprehensive assessment working group (all open questions), and ideological and political experts will conduct on-site assessments. Applicants who fail the ideological and political assessment will not be admitted.

(II) Foreign Language Proficiency Assessment

Comprehensively assess the applicants professional foreign language proficiency and listening-speaking skills, as well as the ability to read and understand professional foreign-language literature.

(III) Professional Comprehensive Ability Assessment

Comprehensively assess the applicants mastery of basic disciplinary theories and application skills, ability to analyze and solve problems using learned theories, understanding of disciplinary development trends, potential for development in the professional field, and research capabilities. Meanwhile, focus on assessing the applicants innovative spirit and innovation ability.

Mental health test: The school will organize a unified mental health test for all applicants participating in the comprehensive assessment. The test results will not be included in the comprehensive assessment score but will only serve as a reference for admission.

Assessment method: The applicant will give a PPT presentation and answer questions from the comprehensive assessment experts, focusing on assessing the applicants foreign language proficiency, professional foundation, research experience, research plan, and academic potential. Experts will score the applicant comprehensively based on the interview performance.

Equivalent academic qualification applicants will take 2 additional exams on the core masters courses of the applied program.


V. Admission

(I) Calculation of Comprehensive Assessment Score

Comprehensive assessment score = Ideological and political quality and moral character score × 10% + Foreign language proficiency score × 20% + Professional comprehensive ability score × 70%

(II) Admission Principles

Applicants who fail the ideological and political assessment, have a comprehensive assessment score below 60, or are identified as violating regulations during the assessment will not be admitted.

The school will select candidates based on merit according to the application-assessment implementation plan. The proposed admission list will be determined based on the comprehensive assessment scores and submitted to the universitys Graduate Admissions Leading Group for approval.


VI. Information Disclosure

In accordance with national examination information disclosure requirements and the principles of "who discloses, who verifies" and "who discloses, who explains," the school will actively promote admission information disclosure. Relevant information (including the assessment plan, list of students who passed the eligibility review and entered the assessment, proposed admission list, etc.) will be publicly announced on the schools website.

The proposed admission list will be publicized for no less than 7 days.
